High Temperature Materials Database

Customer: Army Aviation and Missile Command

Engineering Services: Data analysis, database and software development, web site development and maintenance.

Project Dates: 1998 - present

Summary: A database for high temperature material properties was created by MSC. Materials included in the database are ceramics, refractory metals, and ceramic matrix composites. Properties at room temperature up to 7000°F are included in this database. Thermal, mechanical and erosion properties for most of the materials are also included. A short description of each material including unique properties is featured in this database.

The database was built on multiple platforms to assist our customer in choosing the most effective platform for a given applications. Microsoft Access for the PC, MVision for Unix and a SQL web based version were developed. For the web version, a site was set up with password protection, where users can search by chemical name for a given material and obtain all properties available. More information on this activity can be found at the customer supported web site.
